1. Size: Glass beads used in road marking are typically in the size range of 100 to 1400 micrometers. Larger glass beads tend to have higher light reflection properties.

2. Constituents: Silica is the main material in glass beads, but other compounds are also used in the production process. Specific materials and production techniques can significantly impact the quality of these glass beads.

3. Polishing: The degree of polish on glass beads significantly affects their quality and consequently, their light reflection properties. If glass beads are not fully polished and have impurities, cracks, or uneven surfaces, their reflective properties may decrease.

4. Retroreflection: The most important feature that makes glass beads valuable for road marking is their retroreflection capability. When light hits a surface or object, it reflects at specific angles. This physical process is called reflection. Retroreflection occurs when the surface or object reflects light back exactly in the direction and angle it came from.

Glass beads possess this feature and ensure that light is accurately reflected towards the radiation source (such as vehicles or airplanes). This feature justifies the use of glass beads in street markings, road markings, and airport surfaces.
