Some archaeologists believe that in ancient Egypt, they used mirror surfaces to illuminate the tombs of pharaohs located deep underground. These surfaces were made of copper and were shiny. They would reflect light into the tombs.

Rooshna light collector is the latest system for transferring light to dark spaces in buildings such as rooms, staircases, and more. High-rise construction and reduction of passive dimensions in buildings lead to darkening of some areas of the buildings.

Rooshna light collector is an intelligent system based on sunlight reflection designed based on Iranian architecture. This system consists of a movable smart mirror and one or two fixed mirrors. Like a sunflower, Rooshna intelligently tracks and directs sunlight into the patio or light collector, providing natural light to dark parts of the building.

Patio or light collector for transferring sunlight into buildings

Designers usually create an empty space inside the building to bring light to interior spaces that do not have direct access to light. This empty space, which runs from the lower floor to the roof, is called a patio or light collector.

How does Rooshna intelligent light collector transfer light through the patio or light collector?

Rooshna light collector directs light into the patio space through a mirror. Rooshna light collector has two types: two-mirror and multi-mirror. In each model, there is a movable mirror and one or more fixed mirrors. The movable mirror tracks the sunlight and reflects it to the fixed mirror. The fixed mirror, installed at the top of the light collector, directs the received light into the light collector space. This process illuminates dark spaces in the building.

Various light reflection modes

In the light collector, the reflected light from the fixed mirror above the light collector can be adjusted in several modes. The first mode can reflect light to the light collector walls and illuminate the interior windows of the light collector.

In the second mode, some light can be directed to the walls and some to the floor of the light collector. In this mode, all floors benefit from light, but the lower floor receives more light.

In the third mode, light is only directed to the floor of the light collector. In this mode, although the overall light collector space is illuminated, the reflected light has the highest concentration on the lower floor.

Components of the Rooshna intelligent light collector system

Movable smart mirror: The movable smart mirror tracks sunlight using a light sensor. This mirror reflects sunlight towards the fixed mirror. This intelligent part uses a mechanical system including a gearbox, motor, and actuator, as well as electronic components such as controls, sensors, and mirror surfaces to perform this process.

Fixed mirror: This part of the system consists of a panel of fixed mirrors, a base, and a frame. This fixed mirror directs the reflected sunlight from the movable system into the light collector (patio).

Mirror surfaces installed in the light collector (showing three modes of light reflection) reflect the reflected light from the fixed mirror into the room. This process directs sunlight into your room. Installation of these reflective surfaces is done upon customer request.

Various types of intelligent light collectors

Rooshna: The number of mirrors in the Rooshna intelligent light collector system in each building is determined based on the location of the light collector in that building. The Rooshna system can have two mirrors, three mirrors, or more. Each system must have a movable intelligent system installed on the north side of the light collector on the roof. This system is installed facing south to track sunlight throughout the day.

If the light collector is in the middle of the building, the system consists of a movable smart mirror and a fixed mirror panel. This mirror panel is installed on top of the light collector.

If the light collector is at the end of the building on the north side, the system must have three mirrors, and an additional fixed mirror is added as an intermediary to the system.

Design standard for light collectors in buildings

The living room, kitchen, and room are spaces in a building that can be illuminated through light collectors. The living room and room are considered the main spaces, and the kitchen is considered a secondary space. The dimensions and size of the light collector have specific standards determined based on national building regulations.

The standard and general rule state that in units with an area of 200 square meters or more, the minimum area of the light collector for the living room and room (main space) is 12 square meters with a minimum width of 3 meters. This number is 6 square meters and a minimum width of 2 meters for the kitchen (secondary space).

In units with an area of less than 200 square meters, the area of the light collector for the main space is 6% of the area. This number is 3% of the area for secondary spaces.

Benefits of using Rooshna intelligent light collector

As mentioned at the beginning of the article, high-rise construction and reducing the dimensions of light collectors lead to a lack of light in building units. The lack of light will be much greater in lower floors. Using a system that can bring natural sunlight to these units has benefits:
