The use of nanotechnology has enabled the catalytic converters of this company to have a higher competitive advantage and be half the price of foreign samples.

According to the report of the university group of the Student News Agency, as stated by the sales and marketing manager of Iran Delco, the use of nanotechnology has led to the catalytic converters of this company having a higher competitive advantage compared to foreign samples, and the products of this company experiencing a one-third reduction in price compared to foreign samples.

Alireza Majidnia, the sales and marketing manager of Iran Delco, says: "A large portion of the cars that travel in the country, whether they are made in Iran or produced abroad, obtain their catalytic converters from Iran Delco. We were able to reduce the price by one-third while maintaining quality, and even in some cases, increasing quality. This has enabled the products manufactured by Iran Delco to have a better competitive advantage over foreign samples."

Minoo Asayabi, the laboratory manager of Iran Delco, says: "The use of nanotechnology in car catalysts began when Iran Delco decided to move from Euro 2 standards to Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards. One of the direct effects of nanotechnology is on the specific surface of catalytic materials. The higher the specific surface area, the more direct impact it has on the catalyst's performance, improving the catalyst's performance."

Automotive industries have employed various methods to reduce the amount of exhaust pollutants (including paraffins, olefins, aromatic compounds, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, and carbon dioxide), as one of the main sources of air pollution. One of the most notable nanotechnology solutions for this purpose is the use of catalytic converters in exhaust systems, which convert toxic and polluting gases resulting from combustion (such as NOx, HC, and CO) into harmless gases. Iran Delco, by supplying the necessary catalytic converters for the country, has utilized nanotechnology in the production of these products. This company has succeeded in achieving the technology to produce catalytic converters with Euro 4 and 5 pollution standards. In these catalytic converters, all precious metals including platinum, palladium, and rhodium are distributed as nanoparticles on all high porosity catalytic base surfaces. Bahman Group, Mega Motor, Sapco, Sazeh Gostar, Zamyaad, Khurasan Exhaust, Pars Khodro, Sazeh Pouyesh, Saber Industrial Group, Saipa Automotive Group, Ipco, Iran Khodro Automotive Group, Misagh Parts Manufacturers, and Pars Exhaust are companies under contract with Iran Delco. For the first time in 2004, the catalytic converter standard under the number 7370 was developed by Iran Delco at the Standardization Department of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
