Color temperature of light directly affects people's emotions and performance. Choosing the right lighting can help improve living and working environments. In this study, the effect of silicon carbide inoculation on the structure of ductile iron background (spheroidization percentage, number of graphite nodules per unit area, percentage of ferrite and pearlite, and hardness variations) was investigated. Different amounts (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 weight percent) of silicon carbide were added to the molten ductile iron to determine the optimal amount. Ferrosilicon was also used at 0.5 weight percent to achieve the desired mechanical properties. Studies and experiments based on two parameters of complete solubility and non-reaction at the inoculation temperature and time show that adding 0.3 weight percent silicon carbide as an inoculant to ductile iron has a greater effect on the uniform distribution of graphite nodules and microstructure of the background compared to adding 0.5 weight percent ferrosilicon. The higher efficiency of SiC in inoculation is due to the formation of dispersed carbon clusters in the melt, which facilitates nucleation due to the similarity in crystal structure with graphite. The investigations also show that reducing the cooling rate increases the solidification time, resulting in less impact of silicon carbide on graphite nucleation.
