These results are based on data from animal and clinical experiments and considering the types of cosmetic products and their concentrations mentioned in this article.

Another report from the panel in 1983 stated that benzophenones -۲, -۶, and -۸ are not mutagenic or genotoxic (compounds that damage DNA) and can be used.

The results of the National Toxicology Program (NTP) studies on the carcinogenicity of benzophenones in the oral region have also been inconclusive. Therefore, there is no particular concern about the potential carcinogenicity of benzophenones when used in cosmetic - hygiene products.
